Customer Service Manager

To enhance our reputation as the destination of choice for local and organic food and drink by working alongside the chef and managing the front of house operation in a way that ensures profitability and efficiency and delivers an excellent customer experience.

Our menu is inspired by our own substantial herb garden and four acre vegetable garden where all produce is grown to organic standards. The café also works closely with the on-site organic food shop.

We aim to offer customers the experience of:
•Fresh, delicious and inspired food and drink, using own grown, local, and/or organic ingredients wherever possible
• Genuine hospitality through attentive and consistent service with a focus on individual need

Experience & Qualifications:
• At least 2 years experience as a manager in a catering operation
• NVQ level 3 in hospitality & catering or equivalent or substantial experience
• Interest in cooking/working with local and organic food
• Experience of training, coaching or mentoring other staff

Special skills and knowledge
Essential:
• Good understanding of the commercial realities of a cafe operation including budgets, costings, margins and financial controls
• Good working knowledge of all current Food Hygiene regulations and other relevant health and safety requirements
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to create a happy and efficient work team
• Experience of eating in a range of restaurant, cafes and other commercial settings

Key capabilities

• Takes full responsibility for the management of the front of house of the café
• Able to work alongside the Chef to develop a distinctive style and menu based on local and organic food
• Communicates in a friendly, business-like and considerate manner
• Relates comfortably to people with learning difficulties or mental health problems
• Shows self-motivation, values own achievement and derives satisfaction from the achievements of others
• Plans, implements, monitors and reviews work practices
• Displays positive mental attitude

The post is full-time and will involve working at weekends, occasional evenings and on bank holidays.
