This is an opportunity to develop a career with Pukka Herbs in South Bristol.
Having seen consistant growth over a number of years, Pukka have created this new role to compliment the existing QC team and help develop a rapidly expanding range of products.
Summary of duties:
• To sample bulk material arriving at our warehouse and perform tests to confirm the correct identification of these raw ingredients.
• Send samples to our contract laboratory to carry out microbiological, Toxic Element, pesticide or other physical quality tests helping to determine herb quality.
•To liaise with our various suppliers and contractors to co-ordinate the transfer of samples and associated documentation.
•Product Procurement: Work with the Operations Manager to ensure that we are only purchasing products that fit our internal QC standards.
•To write quality reviews of our products to assist marketing. This will require learning about the individual chemistry of the specialist ingredients that we use and writing appropriate technical literature that validates our quality standards.
•Finance: Work to the monthly and annual budget. Help to set a budget for some of the THMPD costs.
•To produce monthly reports on product quality, testing reports and budget management figures
•To contribute on a weekly basis to objectives, ongoing tasks and problem solving to maintain an uninterrupted supply of quality raw material
•Educated to post graduate level with an in depth knowledge of pharmacognosy, photochemistry and research analysis. Recent practical experience in the use of quantitative and qualitative analysis, HP-TLC, HPLC, GC, GCMS; ideally using plant materials.
•Ideally previous practical experience in a similar QC environment within food or ingredients/herb/spice industry with a good all round knowledge of QA systems and test evaluation
•Knowledge of national pharmacopoeias (Ayurvedic, Indian, European, US).
•To be able to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on raw material.
•Financial management of department budget.
•IT knowledge allowing for learning our own stock control system.
•Ideally will have worked with HACCP systems and/or BRC
